Bring The Spa Home! 4 Simple Ways To Steam Your Yoni

It's time. You’re ready to take more responsibility for your personal health and reconnect with your womb. You’re excited to call upon the wisdom of traditional healers and utilize medicine from the Earth to heal and support your body to do its best.

You’ve decided to try a yoni steam.

But…

You’re left wondering, “How am I going to get that bowl of steaming water and herbs below my yoni?”

If the very thought of squatting over a pot for 30 minutes makes your quads burn, then this post is for you.

Fortunately, some rather innovative ladies have come before you to devise creative and comfortable yoni steam sets ups that you can piece together in the comfort of your own home, for little to no cost.

Before you begin, be sure to download the Yoni Steam Ritual Guide from the box at the right to be sure you know how to set up your experience and prepare your yoni steaming herbs. For each of the set ups below, you'll want to be sure you have your Devi Steam, a bathrobe or warm clothes, large towels or blankets, and a comfortable, relaxing place to steam.

Here Are A Few Of Our Favorite Ways To Yoni Steam:

1. The Devi Steam Seat

A little shameless self-promotion here! I’m mentioning this one first because, quite honestly, we love it and women love it! We’ve designed our Devi Steam Seat to be easy, affordable and extremely effective. Not only that, every seat is handmade with love.

You’ll need:

  • A Devi Steam Seat (get yours here!)

  • A 3 quart stainless steel or glass basin (a heat safe mixing bowl that is no larger than 9 inches in diameter)

  • A sturdy base. Options include:

    • Food-grade 5-gallon pail. This should preferably be BPA free plastic or stainless steel, and the top rim should be 12 inches in diameter for the Devi Steam Seat knobs to fit best. You can find a great, inexpensive option here.

    • A large stew pot. Try one of these recommended options for stainless steel stewpots: 20 Quart or 44 Quart.

  • Blankets or towels

To use your Devi Steam Seat:

  1. Prepare your herbs as outlined in your Yoni Steam Ritual Guide.

  2. Remove your water and herbs from stove, and carefully pour into your heat-safe basin. Allow to cool slightly.

  3. Place your pail on a flat, hard surface where you will be comfortable spending 30 minutes while you steam.

  4. Gently place the basin, with the Devi Steam™ and water, into the bottom of your pail.

  5. Fasten your Devi Steam Seat on to the top of the pale by fitting the guides (knobs) inside the rim of the pale. Be sure the seat is not able to shift side to side.

  6. Disrobe and carefully sit down on your seat. Wrap warm blankets and/or towels around your legs and waist to keep warm while you steam.

  7. After your steam is finished, remove the seat from the pale and dry the underside of the seat completely.

  8. Store pale and seat in your cabinet or closet!

For most women, the height of the pale is perfect for sitting up straight and feeling your feet rooted into the ground. The Devi Steam Seat , which is designed with the golden ratio, has plenty of space upon which your beautiful booty can rest. Additionally, with this method, the steam is well contained inside the pale, ensuring optimal absorption and benefit to your yoni. It stays warm and potent, its safe, inexpensive and can easily be stored!

2. The Queen’s Chair

A second option is to create your own set up using items found in your kitchen and dining room.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Two chairs with flat bottom rungs between the legs.

  • A stainless steel or glass basin (a heat safe mixing bowl)

  • An 8x12 inch cutting board (approximate size)

  • Blankets or towels

To create your own Queen’s Chair:

  1. Place your two dining room chairs side by side with approximately a 6-inch gap between the two seats (adjust to your own comfort).

  2. Set the cutting board on the bottom rungs of the chairs such that the ends of the cutting board rest securely on either chair’s rungs.

  3. Prepare your herbs as outlined in your Yoni Steam Ritual Guide.

  4. Carefully pour your herbs and water into your heat-safe basin, and place the basin on the cutting board between the two chairs, ensuring that it is stable before letting go.

  5. Disrobe from the waist down and sit between your two chairs, placing your yoni directly on the space you created between them, with the basin below.

  6. Wrap your blankets and towels around yourself, as well as the chairs, to keep as much steam as possible in.

  7. Enjoy your Yoni Steam Ritual!

The benefit of this method is that it costs little to nothing, as most items can be found around the kitchen. The challenge is to keep the warmth and steam contained so that it is potent enough to have a real impact. For some who seek a more mild sensation and effect, this may prove to be a benefit!

3. The Lawn Chair Lounge

If you have a lawn chair, this third option might be a great one for you!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A lawn chair with slits that have wide spaces between them. Another option is to find a lawn chair with a fabric seat. Try cutting through the fabric to create a 8 inch x 8 inch hole in the seat. Tip: You’ll want to ensure the fabric is strong enough to maintain its integrity when you sit after it’s cut.

  • A 4 quart pot or sauce pan

  • A trivet or hot pad

  • Blankets, towels and maybe even some pillows

To make your Lawn Chair Lounge:

  1. Place your lawn chair on a flat, stable surface where you’ll be comfortable sitting for 30 minutes as you steam.

  2. Throw some comfy pillows on your lawn chair to make it extra lounge-like.

  3. Place a trivet or hot pad on the ground beneath where your bum will land in the lawn chair seat.

  4. Prepare your herbs as outlined in your Yoni Steam Ritual Guide.

  5. Carefully place your pot or saucepan with the hot water and herbs on the trivet or hot pad.

  6. Disrobe from the waist down and sit on your chair, aiming your bum directly above your steaming pot.

  7. Wrap yourself and the chair in warm blankets and/or towels to keep the steam inside.

  8. Enjoy your Yoni Steam Ritual!

Depending on the lawn chair you have, this set up could be really relaxing and comfortable! However, the challenge here is, again, to keep the steam inside. Also, this set up makes it a little more difficult to sit up straight and root your feet into the Earth, which is the optimal position for your opening your pelvis and connecting with your higher self. But hey girl, if you feel like kicking back for your weekly steam – this is the set up for you!

4. The Toilet Throne

A final option for your steaming set up is, of course, the Toilet Throne. Some may find it unpleasant, but truthfully, this one is actually quite easy and comfortable as long as you clean your toilet beforehand.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A toilet

  • A natural toilet bowl disinfectant and brush cleaner (non-toxic is better!)

  • A wide-rimmed stainless steel or glass mixing bowl

  • A large towel or blanket

To turn your toilet into a throne:

  1. You’ll first want to give your toilet bowl and seat a good scrub. You’ll be able to sink into bliss knowing that you’re seated on a clean porcelain throne.

  2. Next, prepare your water and yoni steaming herbs as outlined in your Yoni Steam Ritual Guide. Carefully pour your herbs into the mixing bowl and allow to cool for 5 minutes.

  3. Place the mixing bowl with the water and herbs into the basin of your toilet bowl. Close the seat (but not the lid). CAUTION: Make sure your bowl of herbs fits completely inside the toilet bowl basin before closing the lid and sitting down. Sitting down on a glass bowl that is too large for the toilet basin may result in broken glass. Please be careful!

  4. Sit down on your toilet as you normally would. Notice if the steam feels too hot, and if so, open your legs or stand up to allow the water to cool.

  5. Enjoy your Yoni Steam Ritual!

The Toilet Throne is easy, comfortable and accessible to most, although it does have two main draw backs. For one, you might not feel that sexy and goddess-like sitting on a toilet. This is a big one because…well… you’re supposed to feel like a goddess when you steam! The second is that the steam can actually be a little too hot when you’re so close to it. That’s why allowing the water to cool for 5 minutes is crucial for this method, as is knowing when the steam feels too hot for your skin. When it does, be sure to move away.

Chances are, you’ll find that at least one of these tried and true methods can suit your lifestyle and preference. If you have another method you’ve found, please email a description of your brilliant invention to sierra@soulvibrance.com so we can share it with the rest of our sisters!
